Behind the Scenes: Designing My Notion Launch Tracker (And the Mistakes I Made)

I've launched five digital products. The first three were chaotic. Here's the system I wish I had from day one.

When I launched my first Notion template, I had no launch plan. I posted a link on Twitter, sent one email to my list, and hoped for the best. It made a few hundred dollars, but it was stressful and messy. By my third launch, I knew I needed a better system.

I started writing down every task that had to happen: landing page copy, email sequences, social posts, affiliate outreach. Then I organized them into phases: Pre-launch, Launch Week, Post-launch. The result is the Launch Tracker template — a dashboard that takes you from idea to revenue with clear milestones.

One mistake I made early on was over-complicating the tracker. I added too many properties and linked databases, and it became a chore to update. So I stripped it back. Now it's just a task list with deadlines and a few key metrics. The simpler, the better.

The biggest lesson? A launch tracker isn't about tracking every tiny detail. It's about keeping you focused on the few things that move the needle: building your list, creating your offer, and showing up consistently. That's why the template has a 'Weekly Wins' section to log your progress and keep momentum.

If you're planning a launch, start with a simple checklist. Don't wait until you have a perfect system. You'll learn more from launching than from planning.
