How to Build a Content Pipeline in Notion (Without the Overwhelm)
Stop juggling content ideas, drafts, and publish dates. Here's the exact system I use to turn ideas into published pieces without burnout.
For months, my content process was a mess. Ideas scattered across my notes app, drafts in Google Docs, and a calendar that never matched what actually got published. If that sounds familiar, it's time to build a pipeline — a repeatable system that moves every piece of content from idea to published without you having to think about it.
The core is a single Notion database with a status property: Idea, in progress, ready for review, scheduled, and published. Add a few other properties like format, channel, and deadline. Then use views — a board by status, a calendar by publish date, and a table for a quick overview. That's the skeleton.
The magic happens when you connect your pipeline to a hub dashboard. A dashboard with a 'Quick Capture' button lets you add ideas in seconds. A 'Today's tasks' view shows you what to work on right now. And a 'Published' view gives you a sense of momentum. I also add a 'Content bank' for repurposing ideas — you'll never run out of things to post.
You don't need fancy formulas or automations. Start simple. I've seen creators get by with just a table and a few views. But if you want to save yourself the setup time, I've built a Content Pipeline template that includes everything I've learned. It's not magic — it's just a system that works.
