How to Build a Content System That Survives a Launch

A practical walkthrough of setting up a Notion content calendar that keeps your regular posting on track even when you're deep in launch mode.

Launching a product is chaos. Emails, social posts, live videos, bonus content — it all piles up, and the first thing to slip is your regular content. I’ve been there, and I learned the hard way that you need a system that separates the ‘always-on’ content from the ‘launch-specific’ stuff.

Here’s what works: create two linked databases in Notion — one for evergreen content, one for launch content. Tag every piece with a status (idea, in progress, scheduled, published) and a channel (blog, newsletter, Instagram, etc.). Then set up a view that only shows what needs to be done this week. That’s it. The key is the weekly review: every Monday, spend 15 minutes pulling ideas from the evergreen bank and moving them into the week’s schedule.

During a launch, you can add a ‘launch’ tag to the content database and a view that filters for it. That way, you see launch tasks alongside your regular posts, but you don’t lose sight of the bigger picture. I’ve used this system for my last three launches, and I’ve kept my blog posting streak alive the entire time.

If you’re tired of the scramble, try this. It’s not glamorous, but it works — and it’ll save you from that Sunday-night panic when you realize you haven’t written anything for Monday.
