How to structure your Notion dashboard for a creative business

Stop building a second brain that’s as chaotic as your actual brain. Here’s a simple dashboard framework that groups your work by energy level, not by project.

If you’re anything like me, your Notion workspace started as a single page called ‘Everything’ and quickly turned into a digital junk drawer. It works until it doesn’t — and then you spend more time organizing than doing.

The fix isn’t more structure; it’s the right structure. I use three views: one for execution (tasks you can do today), one for planning (projects and content), and one for reference (notes and resources). That’s it. No infinite nesting.

I group by energy level because creative work isn’t linear. High-focus tasks like writing or designing go in one list. Low-energy tasks like admin or scheduling go in another. When I open Notion, I pick based on how I feel, not on what a calendar says.

Try this: create a page with three linked databases, each filtered by a property called ‘Type.’ Add a few templates for each type so adding a task is a one-click affair. You’ll feel the difference in a week.
